I Am No Longer A Councillor At West Tamar Council

Next in line should anyone resign in the next two years.
I narrowly missed-out on being re-elected to West Tamar Council on October 26. I'm disappointed but on the positive side I am no longer bound by the Local Government Act. Under the act a councillor is not allowed to 'bring the council into disrepute'. Also a councillor cannot act as a spokesperson for the council as this is the job of the mayor. This is an effective way of silencing criticism and covering-up possible corruption. I was also silenced by the Launceston Examiner, so had little opportunity of getting my message out. I am going to make sure that changes. I will be giving a full account of the inner workings of council in due course. The council needs a big reform and the new councillors have NO HOPE of changing anything. I intend to remain politically active in the Tamar Valley.
Cheers
Karl

Great to see Karl. We desperately need the altruistic inside Ian Pearce's West Tamar Council meetings as a balance for the so many twisted individuals. See readers comments by Pilko (Rick Pilkington) at http://www.examiner.com.au/news/local/news/politics/benneworth-pipped-at-the-post-gibson-elected/2335788.aspx

where I presume he was also commenting as "West Tamar Resident" regarding who gives a stuff whether new elected councillors are against the pulp mill as long as they have nice-looking faces. WTC General Manager Ian Pearce and his ilk throughout Tasmania. Your term as West Tamar Councillor has provided the inside view of this to many who know you, and that has been a priceless service to your community. Well done. Am sure you will be reelected in two years time but please in the meantime, keep up the fight against Tassie's systemic including where it is starting to include certain of Tas Greens state elected members.

Tas Inc systemic corruption is more than just a sick joke to those Tasmanians who have been severely marginalised by its corrupt council staff, judiciary and police officers. Many lives and families have been wrecked. We need change. John

Sorry John, I accidentally deleted the whole comment when I tried to edit-out the bit about somebody being bipolar.

Karl, that is no problem. My media organisation is ISO9001 acredited and so we have a procedure in place to deal with a contingency like that. Here is the unedited comment once again. Just let me know if you'd like to have it reinstated again, if need be. Note the bit about strongly suspect bipolar as opposed to "is bipolar". Opinions and suspicions are not automatically defamatory based on what our legal department have advised.

Curious as to what might have prompted the blogspot editor to trim down certain sections of Comment #1 (John Nov 3,2011 5:31PM) on this article? Were there any legal threats at all from those mentioned in the comment? Always interesting to keep track of the workings of Tas Inc, e.g. Pilko and ors, and their unholy fraternisation with former Mercury editor Garry Bailey now working as radio host on ABC Drive North.

Tas Inc depends so much on this media stranglehold that people like Bailey maintain, to keep the mentally not-so-savvy voting in ignorance at state and local council elections, e.g. for the Labor-backing Greens rather than choosing independent candidates.

Simon Warriner's Indipoltas (indipoltas@gmail.com, http://tasmaniantimes.com/index.php?/article/a-way-forward-for-tasmanian-politics/ ) offers great promise to make a big difference in the Tasmanian political scene though I hope that someone other than Simon takes over implementation of the idea as I strongly suspect Simon is bipolar and specifically in his case, an unsuitable person for that job along with him being too busy for any more than top-level management in the role.
